Yes, it's that time of year around the Fourth of July, which could mean only one thing here in Chicago...the Advil Western Open.

Like from the scene in the movie, Field of Dreams, where a character whispers out, "build it and they will come", every year, Cog Hill No. 4, or also known as Dubsdread, attracts tens of thousands of spectators to watch 156 top PGA players battle it out on a course that has created dramatic finishes and thrilling golf over the years as the site of Chicago's only PGA TOUR championship.

Dubsdread, ranked 64th among America's 100 Greatest Golf Courses by Golf Digest, was designed and built by Dick Wilson and Joe Lee in 1964 and is owned by the Jemsek family.

The par-72 course measures a lengthy 7,073 yards and features large, tiered bentgrass greens; tree-lined, bentgrass fairways; 110 sand bunkers; and water hazards on six holes. A new par 3 second hole has been added.

K.J. Choi Update (July 4)

K.J. Choi flew into Chicago on Saturday, June 30th. And after taking care of personal business, he was found on the practice green on Sunday afternoon alone working on his short game.

Interestingly, K.J's caddie, Buck, along with another fellow caddie made the trek nonstop from Connecticut to Chicago by car, which took 16 hours, and they arrived at 8:30 Monday morning. It didn't give Buck enough time to rest up before K.J.'s Pro-Am round at 11a.m.

On a gorgeous sunny, cool Monday, K.J. made six birdies and a pair of bogeys during the Pro-Am. "The course is beautiful.", said K.J. referring to the pristine and well-groomed fairways and greens.

Despite the wrath of Mother Nature on the PGA Tour so far this year, Chicago is expected enjoy one of the coolest July weeks (between 70 - 80 degrees) in recent years along with mostly sunny skies.
