K.J.'s 2nd Major This Year...2001 PGA Championship

August 14, 2001

K.J. Choi sure has a knack for just making the cut.

At Q-School in both 1999 and 2000, he landed right on the cut line to secure his PGA Tour cards. And once again...he has grabbed the last ticket into the 2001 PGA Championship, which will be held next week from August 16 - 19.

After tallying up the player's official money earnings from the 2000 Buick Open through the 2001 Qwest International, only the top 70 players from the PGA Championship points list are eligible to compete in this last Major of the year. However, a total of 150 players will make up the field including past champions and others based on certain qualification rules. See Field and Eligibility.

This year's PGA Championship will take place at the Atlanta Athletic Club in Atlanta, Georgia. The par-70 course plays 7,213 yards. Winner's share will be $900,000.

You can be sure K.J.'s caddy, Otis Moore (also known as Buck), will provide K.J. with help in reading the greens since he is a native of Atlanta growing up near Augusta National.
