Official vs. Unofficial K.J. Choi website

July 12, 2001

Since we first met K.J. at the 2000 Advil Western Open, we have probably followed his every round and probably every shot, for that matter, with a click of a mouse. It's like tracking your favorite stock on a daily and sometimes hourly basis but in K.J.'s case, you hit the refresh button a couple of times hoping to see red on his scorecard - sound familiar?

As for our website being unofficial, both my brother Mike and I knew that it would be a matter of time before K.J. makes a name for himself both in the United States and Internationally and that an official website would someday be launched. That day has come and what a magnificent site it will be at www.kjchoi.co.kr.

The only caveat is that you understand Korean.

This is where our site comes into play. While K.J. is here on American soil, we will do our very best to inform people of this 'Young Gun' (look for him in the Upper Deck Young Gun series). A PGA tour win will undoubtedly turn some heads and prompt the question 'who's K.J. Choi?'. The internet is the perfect vehicle. Those who perform a search on K.J. on the world-wide web will most likely stumble across kjchoi.net. No, he's not Shigeki Maruyama or Notah Begay as some fans at the events commonly mistaken him for. He's the first and only man from Korea to play the PGA Tour only after 13 years of practice. Not bad.

We had the pleasure of getting to know K.J. as he passed through town during the 2001 Advil Western Open. His devotion to the game of golf and most importantly to his family and God is truly inspirational.

If you're fortunate enough to see K.J. at an event, cheer for him and give him lots of encouragement because you'll most likely witness tomorrow's next best player.

Both Official and Unofficial K.J. websites are a blessing to K.J. in that it will give him the support he deserves.
