Fun at The International
August 1, 2001

After a two-week hiatus, K.J. Choi is back this week for The
International, held at the beautiful and scenic Castle
Pines G.C. in Castle Rock, Colorado.
Besides the competitive atmosphere of players including David Duval, Vijay Singh, and Sergio Garcia, another element has been added to the tournament.
It's called the Modified Stableford scoring system. This system offers each player to have fun and play more aggressively to earn points. Yes, the higher the score the better. Here is how it works:
| Double Eagle | 8 Points |
| Eagle | 5 Points |
| Birdie | 2 Points |
| Par | 0 Points |
| Bogey | -1 Points |
| Other | -3 Points |
Last year's champion, Ernie Els, won this event with a total of 48 points.
K.J.'s familiarity with the courses on the PGA Tour this time around has served him well. It has already earned him three Top 5 finishes this year. Riding on a wave of confidence, K.J. is continuing to improve every aspect of his game.
"I'm not expecting to win any tournaments this year because I'm still in a work-in-progress. There is still a lot of work to do but I do know that I'm very confident about my chances within the next two years. Good things are yet to come.", said K.J. recently after the Advil Western Open.
Currently, K.J. is bordering at 69th in terms of points for the upcoming PGA Championship. The top 70 players from the PGA Championship points list are eligible to compete in the last Major of this year, the 2001 PGA Championship (August 13 -19). It consists of a player's official money earnings from the 2000 Buick Open through this week's 2001 Qwest International. Go K.J.!
